Loftet on skis

Loftet (2170) is one of the most popular mountain peaks to go on a summit hike in Jotunheimen, thanks to easy access and super downpour.

This tour starts at Jotunheimen Fjellstue and take around five hours. Follow the ridge marked as "Langranden" on the map.  Here you will go zig zag on the left side over the ridge and will after this walk on the right side to the peak of the ridge. At approx. 1300 meters the hike obliquely, southwest until you reach the elevation mark with 1377 meters above sea level.

The hike continues where after 700-800 meters you will be gentled upwards to the left where the steepest part of the trip starts in the direction southeast. The stage goes up “Brattfonna” southwest of Vesleloftet with a rise of 30 degrees. When the slope is climbed you are at 1550 meters above sea level, where the terrain flattens out and you can see the rest of the route

The last stage has a steady climb with a couple of "trick peaks" before reaching 2100 meters above sea level. The trip flattens out until you reach the top of Loftet. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a lovely view.

The trip has a great descent you can look forward to. Here you will follow the same route as upwards.
